Country Maid, Inc. Rejected Ads by Chris Chase
Although Jim and I worked on these ads together. These four are all me. You'll notice that my ads seem to have a darker side to them. Jim tends not to know how far to take things, and although I know... all that excess dark humor gets bottled up to come out in stark, brazen form. "Urge" is a throwback to something my brother did in high school. He deserves the credit for that. It's a great concept. The one with the children on it was actually used as a newspaper ad (but with different copy.) I made a bet with Jim that we could introduce as many good ads as possible and I could throw one in with children in it and no matter how bad it looked, they'd pick that one. Sometimes it really hurts to be right.
The first one in this series is mine, but the other three are Jim's. I always enjoyed "Sweet Jesus!" as being my favorite.
All four of these are Jim's. The boy just has a gift for odd story-telling. I personally think that either "Frank" or "Charles" could have been used as professional ads had they been cleaned up properly. Unfortunately, no one at Country Maid seems to have a sense of humor.
