Welcome to Chris Chase's Airbrush Art Gallery.
The following works range in material from tshirts to drywall to skin, but the paint choice always stays the same.
I prefer to use fabric paint with a high latex content, the cheaper the better. Not only is it easy to clean up, easily thinned with water,
and inexpensive compared to art store "airbrush paints", but they're also non-toxic and extremely flexible,
making for top notch make-up effects and, of course, great fabric paints.

It'd been a while since I'd dug out my airbrush for anything useful. In 2006 I got a job at Elkhorn's haunted house, The House of Darkness, by supplying them with this backdrop. It's simple fabric paint on fireproof canvas. In the beginning of the animation, you see me putting a coat of spray paint on it... the reason for this is two-fold... so that the airbrush paint will actually stick to it, and to dull the shiny surface (I used a flat black.) This is a mural that I was commissioned to do in Video Gallery. The subject matter was left up to me as long as it was whimsical... I'm not the best at whimsy, but I think I did my job well. Finished December 1993.

My good friend, Jerry Wheeler, Jr., asked me to paint a mural on his wall. The pictures are of a poor quality because the room was so small and the mural spanned the entire wall. I put little extras in the mural as well, many of their symbols are hidden in the rendering of the skull. Unfortunately, I was informed that a few years ago, due to remodeling, the wall was torn down. Such is the life and love of an artist. Finished August 1993.Back to Top

This shirt was airbrushed as a present for my father. The skull didn't turn out quite the way I wanted, mainly because I'm so used to making the effects with pen. The soft lines did nothing for the design. The chrome on the front of the shirt came out very nice though. Finished May 1993.Back to Top

This shirt was painted for a friend of mine who had a big thing for Marilyn Monroe. This is the back of the shirt, the front had a duplicate of Marilyn's signature on the breast pocket. Finished March 1993.Back to Top

This project was one of my first t-shirt attempts. I painted it for a girl I knew, just another story of unrequited love, I guess. She seemed to appreciate the shirt though. Finished February 1993.Back to Top
